Letter form former pension board trustee Tim Patton
I wanted to start spreading the word. Back in September, Sen. Sherrod Brown and
Congressman Tom Malinowski (D-NJ) introduced a bill to allow First Reponders an
early entry option for Medicare. Those of you who know me, know I've been working
on this for a few years. Though I am no longer on the board with OP&F, I am still
trying to get some movement behind this. That's why I'm reaching out, there's too
much at stake.
Regardless of union affiliation, Police or Fire, if we want this passed we have to work
at it.
I've attached a copy of the Bill. The Senate number is S.2552, in the house the
number is H.R. 4527. Print it out and take a read, and talk about it. Nationally,
EVERY Law Enforcement Officer and Firefighter needs to start harping on their
representatives, both in the Senate and the Congress, to get some momentum
behind it and keep it moving.
I expect this will find its way to some social media platform, I can only hope it is kept
in the proper context. I know some of you are able to post it to your departments or
unions web sites, please do. If any of you would like to forward this to your contacts in
local business, do it!

I hope this finds you all in good health.
Stay Safe,

Tim
